The Senior Assistant Director of Admission reports to the Director of Admission and is primarily responsible for the recruitment of students transferring to Lynn University, but will also be responsible for the recruitment of a smaller group of first-year students in certain geographic regions to the university. The Senior Assistant Director will travel to various regions throughout the country and communicates regularly with various constituent groups. He/she will play a pivotal role in assisting prospective students and their families through the application process and will assist them with understanding the benefits of attending Lynn University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research, design and implement recruitment initiatives to augment the university's marketing efforts to prospective students.
  • Travel to and manage several geographic territories to identify, recruit, admit, and enroll academically qualified students.
  • Implements recruitment strategies in the assigned territory as outlined in the admission plan to include visits to community colleges, state colleges, transfer fairs, high schools, area receptions, and conferences.
  • Facilitates the creation of articulation agreements with community colleges and state colleges to promote and streamline the transfer process of students to Lynn University.
  • Collaborates with the university registrar to conduct credit evaluations.
  • Establishes and maintains an active communication flow with prospective transfer students, parents, and academic advisors.
  • Counsels students through the application process and facilitates questions related to the university's academic, social, cultural, financial, and athletic environments.
  • Reads, interprets, and evaluates students' academic credentials and makes admission/denial decisions.
  • Assists with special programs and research projects directed at supporting the goals and objectives of the admission office.
  • Provides admission presentations to campus visitors and varying constituent groups in the assigned territory.
  • Completes routine reports related to recruitment, projections, personal schedule, travel, special programs, and professional development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to clearly and persuasively articulate university programs and offerings to prospective students.
  • Skilled at interacting and communicating with varying audiences in small and large settings.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems independently.
  • Ability to travel and work a varied schedule with flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Demonstrated ability at planning and organizing multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ability to become familiar with recruitment software programs.
  • Knowledge of admission terminology and standardized testing practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required. Candidates with a master's degree will be given preference.
  • Three to five years of progressive admission and higher education experience required. Consideration will not be given to candidates without direct college admission experience.
  • Depending on experience, candidates may instead be considered for the same role at either the assistant director or associate director's level.
  • Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish will be given preference.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
