Lynn is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Writer and Editor. The Senior Writer and Editor is responsible for managing editorial services provided Lynn University's Marketing and Communications department. S/he writes, edits and proofreads print and digital communications in keeping with the university's brand guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Writes, edits and proofreads print and digital communications, according to university brand guidelines, university editorial style and Associated Press (AP) style.
  • Edits LynnSight and Lynn magazine. For LynnSight, plans content with Senior Vice President for Development and Chief Marketing Officer. For Lynn magazine, plans content with CMO and Director of Marketing and Communication, researches and writes, as well as assigns, additional content as needed. Collaborates with Creative Director and Director of Marketing on planning photography and overseeing layout; reviews printers proofs before publication; supports distribution coordination. Submits all copy to CMO for approval before design.
  • Writes and edits other content as needed, for example, Arts, Culture and Ideas brochures, Live at Lynn ads and posters, departmental brochures, email newsletters, etc.
  • With other department content creators, shares proofreading responsibility.
  • Maintains and updates Lynn University's custom stylebook on AP Stylebook online.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and 10 or more years related experience and/or training.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expert writing, reporting, interviewing and editing skills; mastery of Associated Press (AP) Style; proficiency in web content management systems; email marketing tools, Microsoft Word and online research methods; able to manage multiple projects; deadline- and detail-oriented
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment; ability to move about campus; to use calling devices. This position spends many hours interviewing people, writing and using the computer and proofreading small type.
