Lynn is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Relations Specialist. The Public Relations Specialist reports to the Public Relations Manager within the Communications team. S/he provides comprehensive support for day-to-day media relations, marketing and communications activities across all audiences. S/he is expected to regularly exercise independent judgment, creativity, accuracy and accountability to get the job done.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support media relations efforts, including writing press materials, developing stories, pitching media, and coordinating interviews
  • Support integrated marketing campaigns that meet our constituents' needs and support the university's strategic priorities
  • Produce content for and maximize exposure across all earned, paid and owned channels (, advertising, social, print publications, etc.)
  • Oversee editorial calendar and content partnership with other departments, including iPulse (student-run newspaper)
  • Support university social media strategy through content development and engagement
  • Represent Lynn University at events and in communications with media
  • Measure, analyze and report key performance metrics for strategic activities as needed
  • Uphold university editorial guidelines: edit for AP Style, active voice, consistency and style

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • 5+ years marketing and/or PR experience, agency or higher education preferred
  • Proven record of media relations and copywriting activities required (samples will be requested)   

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must have excellent writing skills and be proficient in AP Style
  • Understanding of social media marketing principles and platform management required
  • Communicate effectively across all levels (peers, senior management teams, agency partners)
  • Self-starter, relationship-builder
  • Work independently and in group settings
  • Flexible, adaptable, able to deliver results under tight deadlines
  • Highly organized, strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of reputation management preferred
  • Experience with project management software, social media advertising and business tools, basic HTML, Google Analytics a plus
  • Experience producing videography/photography a plus
